$750 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
Application Deadline: March 1, 2012
Applicants for the Taylor Ranch Neighborhood Association’s $750 college scholarship must meet all four of the following criteria:
- Reside within the boundaries of the Association (north/south boundaries: Paseo del Norte and Western Trail; east/west boundaries: the river (Rio Grande) and the Escarpment);
- Submit a completed Scholarship Application form and two (2) letters of recommendation, postmarked no later than March 1, 2012, to Scholarship Committee, Taylor Ranch Neighborhood Association, P.O. Box 66288, Albuquerque, NM 87193-6288
- Demonstrate community involvement and service through school-wide and extracurricular activities, and/or other service organizations; and
- Enroll at a college, university, or post-secondary school for Fall 2012.
Scholarship awards will be presented to the school business office or bookstore of the selected students’ choice. Please note that late applications will not be accepted.

WALMART SUPERCENTER AT COORS AND MONTAÑO
EPC Meeting deferred to Jan. 19th: An Amended Development Plan for Subdivision and Site Development Plan for Building Permit has been submited to the Environmetal Planning Commission and will be considered at the January 19th EPC Meeting, starting at 3 pm.. The EPC Hearing will be held in the San Miguel Room, Upper East Level at the Albuquerque Convention Center, 401 Second Street NW, Albuquerque, New Mexico. PARKING: Parking will be free in the Convention Center parking lot. However, we do not know if the parking tickets will be stamped or if they will just leave the gates up. Please bring your parking stub with you in case it needs to be stamped.
It is vital that everyone who is concerned about this development attend this meeting and express these concerns.
The Planning Department Staff Reports regarding the Wal-Mart Project will be available on-line on Thursday, January 12, 2012. Paper copies of the staff report will also be available at the Plaza Del Sol Building, Planning Department, 600 Second Street NW, Third Floor.

LAND USE EVENTS
- Walmart: EPC Hearing on the Walmart SuperCenter proposed for the SE corner of Coors Blvd. and Montaño rescheduled for January 19th. It is very important that all concerned residents attend this meeting. See news items above for more information.
- WSCN opposes Big Box at Coors and Montaño: At their November meeting, the neighborhoods of the West Side Coalition of Neighborhood Associations
voted to oppose building a big box store at Coors and Montaño.
